The NEO TANGO MARATHON BERLIN is more than a weekend of tango dancing. From April 9 to 11, 2027, something will come to life at the Heilandskirche Berlin that, to our knowledge, has never existed anywhere in the world before – the first Neo Tango Marathon ever held in a church.

⛪ The First Edition of the NEO TANGO MARATHON BERLIN in the unique atmosphere of Heilandskirche Berlin

The Venue: Heilandskirche Berlin

Some places have a special quality. The Heilandskirche Berlin is one of them.

High arches that transform the acoustics and make music sound different – fuller, deeper, more spatial. Warm light that gives the space a soft and welcoming feel. During the day, light streams through large windows and bathes the dance floor in a natural glow. In the evening, the church transforms into an atmospheric setting for long Neo nights filled with music and connection.

The Heilandskirche has been part of the NEO TANGO MARATHON BERLIN’s journey for some time. In recent years, numerous TangoVida events have taken place there – and the response from attendees has been exceptionally positive every time.

I still remember the first time I walked into that church, years ago, and the thought was immediately there:

This is where a Neo Tango Marathon could happen one day.

For the marathon, the church will be fitted with a custom wooden dance floor and a lighting and sound concept tailored to the space – turning an extraordinary place into an extraordinary dance experience.

To the best of our knowledge, this will be the world’s first Neo Tango Marathon held in a church.

The Story –

or how NEO TANGO MARATHON BERLIN came to be

It all began many years ago with a small NEOLONGA where about twelve people danced together. Through regular NEOLONGAs, NEOmiLONGAs, NeoFusion events, and workshops, a vibrant TangoVida community grew step by step. With every event, new people joined; from shared dances came encounters and friendships. No one could have imagined back then that this would one day grow into a community of several hundred tango enthusiasts.

When I stood up at the Heilandskirche on September 13, 2025, in front of more than 130 tango lovers, and publicly announced for the first time that I wanted to organize the first NEO TANGO MARATHON BERLIN. No one could have anticipated the enthusiasm this idea would spark. The applause that evening gave the courage to take the next steps.

Since the official announcement on the website and on Facebook, the news has spread far and wide in a very short time. The many positive responses, confirmations, and expressions of interest have moved me deeply. Thank you so very much. You are showing me that together we are creating something truly special.

The NEO TANGO MARATHON BERLIN is the continuation of this journey. The First Edition, April 9–11, 2027, builds on everything that has grown together over many years.

The NEO TANGO MARATHON BERLIN wants to create the right space for exactly that. A place where people feel welcome. Where international guests and Berlin’s Neo Tango community come together and share a weekend that stays with them long after it ends. The weekend is shaped by the people who experience it together.

Official registration opens on August 30, 2026.
